GENERAL INFORMATION

Varsity starts their season tonight, 9/10, under their lightsat North H.S. The game starts at 7 pm. Come enjoy an evening of "FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!"

Freshmen! If you did NOT attend "Freshman Orientation" which was held on August 25th, then you MUST attend the MANDATORY make up orientation on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. in the CollegeCareerCenter. You are expected to attend even though this is a late start day for other students. This is a MANDATORY meeting!!

Think you’re funny?  Try out for Comedy Sportz, today at 3:00 in the PAC.

SENIORS!! Counselors will conduct Senior Conferences in English classes on September 13 - 14.  Important info will be discussed regarding the letter of recommendation packet.  Don’t miss out, a lot of your questions will be answered on how to apply to colleges!!!

Are you a freshman interested in joining MUN?  Sign up and pick up an application in H36.  Tryouts Tues, Sept 14, 3 – 5 PM

All Parents are welcomed to the first Athletic Booster Club meeting Tuesday, September 14 from 7 – 9 pm in the Peninsula High library. Come learn about this year's programs, teams and how your money is working to help our student athletes.

The PTSA’s College Applications Essay Workshop begins on Tuesday, September 14.  See Mr. Colin in H45 with questions.

Juniors: Want parking in the student lot? Please put your name on the sign-up sheet on the counter in the Hawthorne Office. You will be notified if selected. (10)

Attention....it's CSF time again! Pick up a CSF application in H65, H66 or the Hawthorne Office. The application process clearly explained on the form. The application fee is $20. Turn in your app during lunch and from 2 pm - 3 pm in H65. Please do not disturb teachers during class time. The deadline is Friday, September 17th at 3 pm in H65. NO late applications.

Today at the BBQ is “dot day”.  If you find a dot on your tray, you will win a prize or a cookie.

Attention Seniors- Herff Jones will be here today, during lunch to pick up all cap, gown, and announcement order forms. You may also order on "Parent Order Day" on Saturday, Sept. 11th from 10 am until 11:30 am by the gym. Order forms are available in S20. Order by Sept. 11th, and your cap and gown rental is only $21. DO NOT WAIT TO ORDER!!

If you are enrolled inSCROC, classes start this coming Monday, 9/13/2010.  You must attend the first class or you will be dropped.  If you have any questions you can leave a note in Mrs. Morrow’s mailbox in the Counseling Office.

HarborCollege is offering two very popular classes this semester after school on the Pen High campus.  Dr. Coleman’sFilm Appreciation class meets Mondays and Wednesdays and Mr. Wheeler’s Sociology class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Both classes are from 3 – 5 PM and start the week of September 13.  Registration information is in the CCC and Counseling Office.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

Attention Seniors, now is the time to check Naviance for nominated University specific scholarships. Many of these competitive scholarships have early fall deadlines so please submit your name to Mrs. Koyanagi right away if you would like to be considered for nomination. Seniors with a strong financial need should also check out the Questbridge National College Match on Naviance. This program offers up to full-tuition scholarships at several highly competitive schools, such as Amherst, Brown, Cal Tech, MIT, U Penn and Yale.

The first local scholarship of the year is now posted on Naviance. - Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Every year we have at least one or two Peninsula seniors as recipients. Let's see if you will be one of our recipients this year.

Club Charter Forms are available now in S20. Come on by to pick one up if you're interested in starting a club.

SPORTS

Attention boys Soccer Players:  Tryouts will be held next Wed, Sept 15 and Thurs, Sept 16 from 2 – 4 PM.  Please bring running shoes as well as cleats.

STAFF

Do you have the laminator that belongs in the Hawthorne Office? Please return ASAP. We would like to avoid purchasing another one.
